Fine Print

Synopsis

Wanting to become stronger a comic geek tries to get Hulk-like super powers.

The Experience

My first true film class, Intro to Visual Storytelling, ended with me shooting my first “three act structure” short film, “Fine Print,” which was inspired by the litany of super hero origin films that have been released in the last decade.

The project guidelines were simple yet challenging: have three clear acts with absolutely no dialogue. Armed with a camcorder, a tripod, and a couple friends to help shoot I set out to bring my vision to life. The greatest challenge came during the editing process when I noticed that in the back of one of the shots a tripod was clearly visible in every take. I ended up having to teach myself how to keyframe the tripod out, and learned a valuable lesson about how diligent I must be to maintain continuity from shot to shot.
