The Experience

Second year of film school at Chapman means you’re shooting an “Intermediate Production” or more commonly known as an IP. This time around I was given a small crew: a director of photography, a sound guy, and a grip.

The guidelines for this project were were to shoot a “3-2-1” which required a script 3 pages long, featuring 2 characters in 1 location. Inspired by the characters of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” I wrote the script around a standup joke I had come up with. I wanted to showcase two arguments that were both valid but coming from characters that refused to see the other side. Having them both be wrong and right at the same time led me to a problem of sorts: how to reach a plausible conclusion for the two of them whilst remaining true to my inspiration of characters that don’t grow and learn. The end result is them mocking one another instead of solving their argument.
